- How do you clean and degrease the cabinets? Look for a dedicated degreaser step, not just a wipe-down.
- Do you sand, and with what grit? Scuff sanding is essential for adhesion.
- What primer do you use? It should be a bonding or adhesion primer rated for cabinets.
- What topcoat do you use? Ask for the product name — it should be a cabinet enamel, not wall paint.
- Where are doors sprayed? A controlled area produces a cleaner finish with less dust.
- How do you protect my kitchen and home? Expect plastic masking, floor protection and zip walls.
- What's your warranty, in writing? A confident contractor puts it on paper.
Red flags
- A price far below everyone else with no explanation.
- Brushing and rolling doors instead of spraying.
- No written proposal or warranty.
- Pressure to sign the same day.
